Where the Money Goes…

With the money that we raise, Women Who Stand, supports World Relief programs in Cambodia and Malawi.

In Cambodia, our gifts are used to:

  • help ensure that all Way of Hope cell churches  receive trafficking prevention training
  • help increase the number of children who know the signs of illness, and increase the number attending bi-monthly meetings to hear the Gospel through creative teaching methods
  • help ensure that in every village where WRC is working, at least two community leaders have received trafficking prevention training and commit to advocacy in their local area, including creating an advocacy plan.
  • empower the local church to respond to the nutritional and agricultural needs of HIV/AIDS patients and the undernourished in their community through education on the growth, care, and uses of the Moringa tree.  (This is such a cool project!)
  • help the Hope programs where youth will: learn to prevent HIV/AIDS,share health messages with friends,be more interested in school, encourage HIV tests before marriage, know how to avoid peer pressure,be more obedient to their parents, avoid drug and alcohol abuse and mentor orphans in their communities

In Malawi our gifts are used to:

  • help support childcare centers, hope kids clubs and feeding centers and provide ARV for children living with AIDS
  • help support 94 agriculture projects in communities thru farmer field schools,  livestock units with chickens, pigs, goats
  • HIV AIDS–Support peer educators reach other youths with HIV prevention messaging; train  home based care volunteers and support volunteers who care for orphans

A story about one of the Women who has benefited from World Relief Programs
Modesta Museteka is  44 years, married with 5 children is one of the caregivers who sees a lot of impact on her life because of WR programs, especially in the area of Child Develop and agriculture..  Modesta says before she joined WR-Malawi ministry she only knew of doing household chores as a wife.  This is what she says “I have been a care giver since 2003 but things changed from 2007 when WR started training me as a caregiver and church volunteer.

Despite not being highly educated, Modesta says “My life has  changed a lot for the better morally, socially and economically because of WR programs. Today I am raising pigs, having participated in the TOT (Trainer of Trainers)course I am now able to train other  caregivers in my zone, I am growing different crops, and assisting vulnerable people in the community.

Listen to what she continues to say:  “I thank God because I am now able to contribute positively to well being of my family and community just because WR-Malawi  has empowered me. I plan to help more women understand WR vision and programs so that they can benefit from its programs.

  1. Great job on the Yard Sale, ladies!! What an amazing profit! I propose some of the money go to support one of our own, Roberta Nagel, in Malawi. Roberta is using her own funds and those she has been able to raise, to support herself while working with World Relief in Malawi. She will be there for 2 years. Roberta has only been there about a month.

    • As a group, our plan is to support programing for anti trafficking and HIV/AIDS in Malawi and Cambodia. This plan was in place before Roberta’s decision to serve in Malawi with World Relief. I know some of the Women Who Stand have and will continue to support Roberta. We are so grateful for her being there and serving. We encourage that too.
